Connecticut TV weatherman Bill Evans may need anger management classes

In May, Connecticut’s WABC-TV weatherman Bill Evans and estranged wife Dana allegedly erupted into a domestic dispute at home. This past Tuesday, June 18, the two entered state Superior Court in Stamford, arraigned on charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Although neither spouse entered a plea, Bill Evans did apply for enrollment in the Family Violence Education Program, which would carry court ordered anger management classes.

Affidavits submitted in court reveal two very different accounts of what happened between the couple last month. According to Dana’s story, she had been looking for car keys in their home’s master bedroom the night of May 4 when a disagreement with her husband turned violent. Dana alleges that during the dispute, Bill shoved her to the floor and hit her around her right eye with his right fist, resulting in an inch-long cut on her hand and bruising on her eye and collarbone. She struck him with a wooden hanger in retaliation.

According to Bill, Dana had berated him in the front of their kids, saying “he does not live in the marital home and that he is not wanted there.” When he went to grab his keys to move his car, she attacked him, first punching and kicking, then striking him with the wooden hanger. Bill and his attorney also attest that this is not the first time his wife verbally abused him in front of their children.

The two filed for divorce in April 2012. While the case is pending, Bill’s acceptance into the Family Violence Education Program, which would erase these charges from his record, mandates violence and anger management classes in lieu of prosecution. Individuals in situations like these should consider the online anger management classes of Conflict Coaching & Consulting to meet their court ordered needs.
