Teen receives anger management after ominous Facebook threat

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, and the tragic events that took place in Newtown, Connecticut earlier this year, teachers, administrators and law enforcement officials have come to take threats of violence more seriously – whatever the forum. Recently, a 19-year-old from Leavittsburg, Ohio, suffered the consequence of this stricter enforcement.

According toĀ The Vindicator, a regional news outlet, Leland Fritz has been charged with “inducing panic” after he wrote a Facebook post that threatened the lives of students from a local high school.

Fritz reportedly stated that “the population of the school will decrease” and that he would go to jail in response to a Facebook friend’s complaint about her peers at Champion High School.

He purpotedlyĀ told the police that his threat was an idle one, and was only intended to show solidarity with his friend, but given theĀ current climate of heightened vigilance, police officers took his missive seriously.

Fritz’s court date has been postponed so that the boy can completeĀ anger management classesĀ prior to his trial.

Now, more than ever, it is essential to be mindful of what you say and how it can be interpreted. If you have a hard time controlling your temper, and are prone to outbursts that others could perceive as threats, don’t wait until you’re facing criminal charges to address this issue. OurĀ online anger management classesĀ have been developed to help people of all ages and backgrounds respond to contentious and difficult situations without resorting to physical or verbal abuse. By completing a Web-based anger management program, you can better yourself discreetly, learning at your own pace and from the comfort of your home.
