However, one man who, in his darkest hour, threatened his wife with a deadly weapon, says that is not the case.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with\u00a0WFAA-TV<\/a>, a Texas media outlet, 33-year-old Jason Christian opened up about his abusive past and shared a message of\u00a0hope for others who fear they can’t change their ways. In 2012, Christian, who says he had never been one to “shy away from physical violence,” reportedly got in a heated argument with his wife that quickly escalated. One moment, they were arguing, the next, he produced a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n

“I ended up pulling a gun on my wife […] she was in the room with my children, so my children saw it all, my five-year-old and three-year-old sons,” Christian told the TV station.<\/p>\n

Though this incident was certainly an extreme, Christian explained that he’d often relied – almost unconsciously – on physical intimidation.<\/p>\n

“[In my past] I had done some of the minimal things like blocking doorways, pushing women, grabbing women,” he said. Now, after facing an aggravated assault charge, joining Alcoholics Anonymous and completing his court-ordered anger management, he can recognize those actions for what they were.<\/p>\n

“It’s all domestic violence and it’s all uncalled for,” he said.<\/p>\n

For Christian, managing his alcoholism and learning how to control his anger have helped lift a substantial emotional burden off his shoulders and given him another chance to be there for his family.<\/p>\n
