On Friday, June 21, a Cecil Township man in Washington County, Pennsylvania accused of threatening a candidate in the board of supervisors election was ordered to take\u00a0anger management classes<\/a>. The 43-year-old Merle Williams was offered anger management in exchange for dropping his initial charge of making terroristic threats, so long as he completes the program within 90 days. Williams agreed to this at a preliminary hearing held by District Judge Valarie Costazno.<\/p>\n

As local publication The Observer-Reporter recounts, Williams had been arrested by police after\u00a0leaving a threatening message on the cell phone of Cindy Fisher<\/a>, a candidate running for municipal supervisor. This incident happened just two weeks before Election Day. According to police, Williams “was mad at Fisher from postings and pictures on her Facebook page regarding another candidate” that had been running for the same position. Williams proceeded to leave a message on Fisher’s voicemail, saying she would “need an ambulance” if her campaign ever knocked on his door.<\/p>\n

Authorities traced the message back to Williams’ home phone number. After police questioned his roommate, Williams turned himself in to the police department and confessed.<\/p>\n

As part of his court agreement, Williams will have to attend anger management classes during a 16-week period and may not contact Fisher, directly or indirectly. In return, Williams’ misdemeanor charge of making terroristic threats will be dismissed.<\/p>\n
